The Rotary Club of Footscray - Community Service &House of Friendship Fund Inc.

History of the Fund

The Fund was formed out by amalgamating two separate funds operated by the Rotary Club of Footscray. The “House ofFriendship”(HOF) provided the elderly a meeting place & recreational facility in addition to daily hot meals at nominal cost. For those who were house bound meals were provided at home.

The concept was so successful that it became a prototype for many similar schemes in Australia and in 1975 became one of the Footscray Council's community welfare programs.

The Rotary Club of Footscray Community Service Trust

was formed in 1977 to provide financial assistance to designated not-for-profit charities which have Deductible Gift Receipts (DGR) status from the Australian Taxation Office.

In 1994 the assets were combined to form the “Rotary Club of Footscray

Community Service & House of Friendship Fund Inc”.

How the Fund Supports Local Communities?

Rotarians are committed to serving the community. This Fund provides vital grants to not-for-profit grassroots charitable organisations with DGR status. Grants are made to a diverse range of local projects which improve the lives of disadvantaged people throughout the locality. We are proud to have made a difference to many important services within the community.
