We were delighted that new member, Donna Sherwani, was inducted to our club. Donna was sponsored by Jama Farah and PDG Iven Mackay officiated for the induction.
Our speaker at the meeting was Kelina Attard, a registered nurse, working for Bolton Clark Homelessness Program. Her presentation highlighted the increased morbidity and mortality rates in the homeless, who die 20-30 years younger than general population. First Nations and women over 55 are over-represented in population of homeless people. She spoke of the challenges of finding housing and providing support to the homeless.
