The speaker for at our first meeting for the year was Ms Aruna Venkatachalm, Head of Impact Education at Local Impact Melbourne. She spoke about about supporting community organisations in the western suburbs. She has a background in supporting social enterprises in India and First Nations communities.
The aim of Local Impact in the west is to facilitate connections, education and providing support to community organisations.
Recently Local Impact conducted research with 35 local community organisations interviewing 135 people, with the findings were then discussed at a leaders lunch
The outcome was identifying key areas in which Local Impact can assist local organisations.
Connection:developing tangible outcomes and impact, facilitating connections with gov philanthropic trusts
Education: hands on mentoring, programs for establishing a small business, financial literacy programs
Support: utilising volunteers, identifying funders/trust for financial support and experts within West.
