Meeting November 21st
District Governor's Visit
At this meeting we were honoured to welcome DG Michael Lapina for his visit to our club. He initially complemented the club for the impact it has had locally and internationally.
He then spoke to the annual theme “The Magic of Rotary”.
Magic creates happiness and through the magic work of Rotarians happiness is created.
The people in Ethiopia are beneficiaries of the “magic” in the Horn of Africa project.
To maintain the “magic” we need to encourage one another in our projects and review our work regularly.
Michael focused on three aims for achieving “magic”:
- Need to create an irresistible Rotary experience
- Continuity. Avoid doing the same thing year on year and achieve continuity through change. The four original members of Rotary met for fellowship and vocation then realised that service was part of their vocations and so the organisation evolved
- Heal a divided world. Help those impacted by “negative peace”. Rotary’s seven areas of focus are aimed at achieving “positive peace”.
