In December 2023 at the final meeting of the Rotary Club of Footscray a raffle was drawn. The raffle was to raise money for the Rotary Sailing Challenge Program. The first prize was a week’s stay in a beach front cabin at the Ingenia Resort in Eden NSW and I was lucky enough to win the first prize which had to be used within two years. In October 2025 I took my sister and the dog for a holiday.

Annie making sure that she was coming.
The view from the cabin was perfect, looking straight out to a grassy area with trees that fringed a small bay. It was such a relaxing environment that even if you didn’t move from the cabin you would have had a good holiday, but there is much to see and do in the local area including visiting the Rotary Lookout in Eden which is part of the Killer Whale Trail.

There are great little towns within easy driving distance making Eden a very good staging point for exploring the area. It was a bit disappointing to find out that tours of the Bega Cheese Factory ceased many years ago although you could buy a vintage cheddar that is sold nowhere else but at the shop near the cheese factory.

Many thanks to Philip Caruso for providing this prize that provided the opportunity for a week of being a tourist on the Sapphire Coast.
