President's Report 2024-11

We note with sadness the death this month of long serving member Frank Brown and extend condolences from the club to his loving wife Anne. Frank joined Rotary in 1975 and was club President in 1986-87.He was awarded a PHF in 1992 and was treasurer for District Conference in 2008 which was organised by our club.

This month saw the visit of DG Michael Lapina and son Alex on Nov 21. Michael gave an inspiring address on The Magic of Rotary  and advised us of the need to change to ensure the long term future of Rotary.

We were able to induct a new member Leo Li  on Nov 21 and also accept Tim Reynolds as a transferring member who was previously a member of Balwyn club.

At the same meeting DG Michael was pleased to award a Paul Harris Fellowship to Maria Silber for her outstanding contribution to our club over the past few years as Club President [ for the second time ] as well as Club Secretary for the past two years.

The club has again been successful in our application for a Foundation Grant for a student scholarship for years 11 -12 in 2025-26.Footscray High School has nominated Celeste Whittle as the recipient of this scholarship which is valued at $2500 over the two years.

Our major fundraising event in the New Year will our Golf Day which is scheduled for Friday March 28 2025.This will again be held at Eynesbury Golf Club. Our thanks go to Elia ,Rodney and Ron who will again coordinate this event.

Our last meeting for the year will be on Thursday Dec 19th with a Christmas theme proposed.
The first meeting in 2025 will be on Thursday Feb 6th

I will be absent on leave for the first three weeks in December whilst visiting daughter and grand children in The Netherlands prior to Christmas, Maria and Elia have kindly offered to fill in for me for the two club meetings in December.

May I wish all club members and families a Happy Christmas and a safe and peaceful New Year.
