President's Report October

Our speakers this month were Dr Denise Clarke and Graham Richardson from the Yarraville Tennis Club and our own Darcy Brennan. There a detailed reports as separate items.

At the meeting on 6th October we acknowledged Ted Logan’s 90th birthday on 3rd  October. True to form he had written a poem for the occasion and then he sang it to the tune of sang it to the tune of Take Me Back to Dear Old Blighty. The words are included later in the Bulletin.

Recently I enjoyed lunch with Sika Kerry who would like to donate a seat in honour of her son George.  The seat could be placed at the Doug Mills Reserve where we have recently planted trees.

There is no seating there at present and it will make the area more attractive for people using that area of Footscray Park. She would like the seat to be made from recycled materials and we will work with Maribyrnong Council to make sure a suitable place is selected and a seat matching Sika’s wishes installed. A letter from Sika is included later in the Bulletin

Fred Maddern had some good news about the trees that were recently planted as at the moment it looks as though they have survived the flooding along the Maribyrnong River.

Our cluster meeting on the 10th November at the Yarraville Club should be a great evening with the opportunity to meet Rotarians from other cluster clubs and also take part in a hands on project. District Governor Amanda Wendt will be the speaker.

Bookings are now open and I look forward to seeing you on the 10th November at the Yarraville Club. Booking details later in Bulletin

Please note: There is no meeting on November the 3rd.

Maria
