Tributes to Diane McGrath

“Diane was a valued member of Rotary Club of Footscray and esteemed Bulletin Editor for

many years.

Diane’s passions were her time as a Teacher, her horses and many beloved dogs,

gardening and travel, also as a partner to Peter in life and business.

Dianne had a great sense of humour, and could engage on many different topics,

she always showed a caring and compassionate side to all she met. Dianne will be sadly missed.”                                    Ron Hunt

“My Presidential year was 2005/2005 and I was somewhat overawed with all that I needed to be responsible for.  Because of my connection with Diane, I asked if she would be good enough to assist by being our Club’s Bulletin Editor for my year.

Diane certainly did not disappoint.  Her Bulletins were engaging and entertaining, so much so, that she was asked to remain in that role for many years afterwards.  I am positive all our members will remember the remarkable job she did.

This is how I will remember her – always wanting to help, never asking for recognition or reward, always a smile and a laugh and always keen to share stories about our beloved Melbourne Football Club.

Diane was simply a joy to be around and I will miss her dearly.”

“I enjoyed every conversation I have ever had with Diane.  Her zest for life and interest in others is what I will particularly remember about Diane.

Dear Peter, all our thoughts are with you.  Please reach out if there is anything  I can do. “

“Diane made a great contribution to Footscray Rotary, along with her husband Peter over many years. In fact we never thought of one without the other ‘ A GREAT TEAM’ .

Diane was for many years [ approx 17] the Editor of the Club Bulletin and produced a paper edition almost every week which Peter printed and delivered to our meeting.

Our club Bulletin received an award on at least one occasion as Best Bulletin in District 9800.

I well recall during my year as President 2007-08  I would call Diane on a Tuesday or even Wednesday evening with a few words or ideas for the Bulletin and she would knock them into shape, perhaps expand or embellish them before the print deadline late on Wednesday night. All this work done after a full day at school and after attending to the horses and dogs which was another or her passions . I doubt that we will ever see another with such devotion to duty to Rotary Club of Footscray as Diane Mc Grath.”
