President's Report November
November, Foundation Month, has been a busy one for the Club and we have been pleased to induct three new members:On November 2, DG Ron Payne inducted Elwyn Davies and on November 16, Susan Palmer and Angphal Singh were inducted.More details in separate article.
The club has also been successful in our application for another Year 11 – 12 student scholarship for 2024 -25 from District Foundation Grants. Footscray High School has again been asked to select a suitable candidate for this scholarship.
DG Visit.On November 2 the club was pleased to welcome DG Ron Payne and Deb for their annual visit. Ron spoke about Priorities for District 9800 for 2023 -24 and these are detailed in a brochure which he gave to members -details in separate article.
He also pointed to the problem of membership and noted that in Australia over the past ten years there has been a decline in both club numbers and membershipof about 30%. This decline in membership has also been seen in other Western Nations ie USA and Europe.
Ron also invited us all to attend District Conference in 2024 which will be held in Bendigo from April 12 – 14 th .
At our local level Jamah Farah continues to acquire hospital equipment for The Horn of Africa
Project with further containers soon to be shipped from DIK store .
A Board Meeting will precede the meeting on December 7th at 5.45 with our final meeting on December 21st.
