President's Report January 2024

Presidents Report

We have now passed the half way mark in this Rotary year and as yet we do not have a President Elect for the 2024 -25 year. Although I have approached several members including a couple of Past Presidents about taking on the role, at this stage I have not had an affirmative response.

The incoming District leadership team for 24-25 is keen for our club to fill this position as President Elect training sessions [PETS] commence in February and March.

I would be grateful to hear from any member new or old who might wish to take on the role of President in July this year.

An incentive for an incoming President is the knowledge that their is a fair prospect of a President to take the position in 2025 -26 [but not before].This will ensure that there is a succession plan in place.

Although the role of President is vital for the future of the club it is fair to say the job now is not as demanding as it was some years ago, with less frequent meetings and the ability now to do much business electronically.

On another note if we needed a reminder of the importance of Rotary in the world today is the news out of EAST JAVA [ABC Radio 19/01/2024] of the discovery of several cases of poliomyelitis. Thus the END POLIO NOW campaign will need to continue.

I hope to see you at our first meeting for 2024 on February 1st.

Bob Newman

President
