Drawing of the Christmas raffle was held with proceeds going to fund our Youth Programme which is supervised by Suzanne Zammit.
Our last Board meeting was held on Dec 7 and the following resolutions were passed
1 Approval of funding $2500 for restoration of gardens at Gadsden House in Gordon St Footscray. There are plans for Club members to join with some of the residents in a planting exercise, in the New Year. Fred Maddern is leading this project.
2. The club intend to apply for a District International Grant for $2000 from District 9800 Foundation to match the $4000 from our club, to support The Horn of Africa project, sending medical equipment to two Hospitals in regional states in Ethiopia. Jama Farah is the driving force behind this ongoing project.
This is our major project for the 2023-24 year.
Ron Hunt was able to arrange [at short notice] for a BBQ at Vic Uni on Tuesday Dec 12 with help from a number of members and a three young volunteers who were able to learn the art of cooking sausages from the master himself. Well done Ron.
January will be a Rotary free month but we look forward to seeing you all at our first meeting for 2024 on Thursday February 1.
